  • 'People who talk during gigs are like people who talk during films; they should be taken outside into an alley and garotted, silently.' -Joel Lane, 'From Blue To Black'.

Great, great song; great musicians (also very professional, although am I the only one who thought he saw David shooting the evil eye in the direction of the loudmouths?) An audience of mannerless cretins who deserved neither.

  • Obviously I wish the crowd had been quieter but in their defense I will say that this was a special early evening show that started at 7:00 and that a lot of the people there were the remnant of the afternoon alcoholics who hang out every day. They're usually gone way before the average 10:00 PM showtime so Dave was inflicting culture onto people who,for the most part, couldn't care less...

  • I swear at a concert at the "Music Star" in Norderstedt these fucking talkers would be killed by rest of the audience

  • People.are.idiots..they.are.all.nestled..in.their.imbibical.chords...too.bad..he.didn't.have.a.gun.to.shoot.before.his.song........ABSOLUTELY.NO.AUDIENCE.CLASS...IDIOTS!

  • Great song . I first heard this lying in bed in Dublin, Ireland late one night when I could not sleep....you know the script......lying in the dark hoping sleep will eventually come....so I fidgeted for the radio 'power on' button and ...........well .........wow....

Lilting out of the radio came Linda and Emmylou's version of David's song.......the stillness, the imagery, depth of feeling, the humanness.

Thank you David Olney for writing a classic.

  • Sadly lovely song, ruined by the talkers.

  • That's where I heard it first. Their voices do justice to this hauntingly beautiful, sad song. David Olney's words are so evocative. It's a pity this audience didn't have the decency to really listen.

  • 1917 brilliant moving song - Strewth what a disrespectful audience

  • Great great song. Assholes who can't be quiet and listen

  • Such a sad waste of life. An obscenity. A Birdsong. How did he keep on singing??? I would have stopped. Maybe this is why it keeps on happening again and again and again. We don't learn from history. We repeat it.
