The great silence - alternative ending

Il finale alternativo de "Il grande silenzio" di Sergio Corbucci. Venne girato perchè i produttori non gradivano l'originale finale tragico, ma Corbucci lo fece talmente brutto che i produttori furono costretti ad accettare il finale originale!

The alternative ending of Sergio Corbucci's "The great silence". It was filmed because the producers didn't like the original unhappy ending, but Corbucci made it so bad that the producers were obliged to accept the original ending!

I've read somewhere that this was the ending of the korean or japanese version of the movie. But as you see Sergio Leone did it intentionally in such a ridiculous way, that it can't be taken as serious.

It was more realistic in the original. They would have just shot him through the window the whole showdown business makes great myth, but it was seldom the case. Bushwacking is more effective.

Haha that's funny, all the bounty hunters suddenly started shooting like stormtroopers from Star Wars. Bad ending!

The original ending is much better. Seeing Silenzio smile is kinda... funny. And the movie is NOT funny at all.

The ending is what sets this film apart from almost every other movie ever made. I'm so glad this movie didn't have this ending, even though, the original ending is really heart breaking. The Great Silence is one of the greatest movies that most people will probably never see, unfortunately.

@JackDalton The Japanese version featured the same ending as the original Italian cut. Definitely not this one.

i saw this movie, wheni was oh, about 14, and thought it was tremendous..

i had been brought up on "good guy always wins" westerns, and was UTTERLY devastated at the original ending, but realised, that in life, the good guy hardlys ever wins..
