Took the day off work to enjoy a snowy and icy hike. I brought along the Vargo Titanium Hexagon wood stove to cook a Lipton SideKick Honey Garlic Noodle meal and some sausages and eggs (not recorded).

Sadly I think my stove is defective, the back plate does not fit snug and falls out of place. Regardless using a wood stove is a lots of fun! I had lots of smoke because of moss and wet wood I had. Thankfully I was able to find some fireladder wood (thanks Jun for the word definition!).

Hope you enjoy!

  • Nice video! I haven't ventured into the snow yet. Unlike last year when we Iowans' get snow it's a storm and it melts soon after before I get to hike safely. Anywho, I love the Vargo wood hexagon stove. I have found that after a while of burning, the holes fill up with ash. I prop my stove up with rocks so the air flow stays current.

  • @hikeabelle Thank you for watching! Yes, if the type of wood used does not burn hot a lot of ash might be left behind. Don't forget you to can the stove upside down to use as a grill!

  • Is that gold creek?

  • @asharof Hi - Sorry I am not entirely sure where Gold Creek is but this is by Lynn Canyon off the Baden-Powell.

  • I felt like you were about to be abducted by aliens or run into a Leprechaun with that Twin Peaks music intro... Cheers

  • @ascetic43 Hah ha no Leprechauns though that would be cool. Glad you enjoyed the music and video- cheers!

  • @wawhiker Oh those bags are nice and is listed for Santa heh. I have some dividends to use and may pick up some new hikers. Cheers!

  • Revisited for Chloe's backpack. She does a good job showing it - haha! I have my eyes on the Ruffwear Palisades Pack. Like the idea of the bags releasing from the harness Saw that the REI pack got good reviews too. Will have to wait for the dividend... I remember your Vargo being replaced. Thanks again my friend.

  • @clinmo Glad you enjoy the videos. No bashing taken at all, everyone is entitled to post videos and this is one of my longer ones for my Auntie who was terminally ill and could not enjoy what she loves; the outdoors and my dog. That is why I left lots of dead space with my dog getting into the camera hah ha.

  • Hate to bash you on this....but I fell asleep during this video......Please in post production....cut out dead time, try to be ready to talk about the subject and pack it up after your done talking about it, and get things in the view of the camera...etc. Even when using more then direct info (ie talking to the camera as if its another person). Other then that I have enjoyed your video's
