Chapter 2 of the 'Land of the Brave' DVD looks at life in 'pahad', the mountainous foothills of the Himalayas where many of the Nepali tribes who have traditionally made up the British Gurkhas originally come from. The narrator is Major (retired) Gerald Davies, curator of the Gurkha Museum.

    That bridge is from eastern Nepal on Tamor river. The picture is from B. M. Niven's "The Mountain Kingdom: Portraits of Nepal and the Gurkhas." The book is available on amazon dot com. In the book, the caption for the picture reads "A bridge of heavy logs cantilevered out over the headwaters of the Tamur River, E. Nepal. "
