Chon-Ji literally means 'Heaven and Earth'. In the Orient it is interpreted as the beginning of the world or the creation of human history, therefore it is the initial pattern performed by the beginner. It consists of two similar parts, one representing Heaven and the other representing the earth.
The movement is sine wave which is characteristic to True Taekwon-Do as General Choi designed it. It is based on physics and utilizes your body weight to increase the power of the technique. Sensei is Japanese not Korean. Please before you comment do some research and then make your statements. I am the holder of ITF School plaque number 5412 which I recieved a few years before General Choi passed away. I have assissted and video taped several seminars when General Choi was present. Taekwon all.

What is this guy doing with his hands between movements? He is seriously bouncing his hands up and down if you watch his transitions.

@ClareBearMc, bigtemarifan is a kid. I wouldn't take anything he says too seriously. First note the classic anime-crazed user name. 2nd, to volunteer that he "practices" 12 different martial arts is a tell-tale sign of a wannabe. No person can practice 12 different martial arts effectively. It's like learning 12 different languages at once.
@bigtemarifan, Honesty and integrity are virtues of a martial artist, As well as humility.
