I would like to know, just for example, could Serbian ( I think even 30year old SA-3 ) be Modernised to meet the "standard" of Pechora 2M or there are 'better' solution for our country if 'we' buy some other, of course Russian, SAM system like BUK-M2/M2 ?

I believe the Pechora-2M upgrade is significantly cheaper.

The Buk-M2 is more capable

@Husar101 Well, that's the main reason I asked, upgrade of SA-3 or more money for modern BuK-M2 or S-300, because our country is all most unprotected at this moment. Other SAM we have is KUB SA-6 all so 30year old, and just 2, or 3 "usable" Mig-29 with outdated technology. We live in the 21st century. Our minister of defense is idiot !!! The Ministry is considering bids for the purchase of new fighter, but I think it is nonsense for state size of Serbia, new SAM systems is more logical solution.

I agree to an extent. But you do need at least a small number of fighters to complement the SAMs.

Unfortunately, your government is a puppet government.

@Husar101 yeah, I know that all so, but I'm quite sure that some "Western fighters" would be chosen because politics of our government and Ministry of defence under idiot Sutanovac and not Russian one even they know they would be best choice for Serbia! So it' s "better" to don't have any than buy some EuroFighter for 80mill euro or F-18. I don't know if U know that Russia non-official offered a 3 billion euro credit to Serbia for Air force and air defence modernisation BUT again, government...

@Husar101 Maybe, but we are small country with BIG problem, Kosovo occupied by Albanians and their "friends" from NATO. USA and Europe would close "roads" for Serbian economy and they would make our life even heavier if we chose patriotic government, they lose money, that's what they call "democracy", on their way. On other side question is for WHO we can vote.Those who call them selves "patriots" we know them very good and they are no better than present government. Solution: weapon=respect !

it's not really for cruise missiles although the modernised 2M version can engage cruise missiles. For a start, It would depend on how many launchers are available, how much warning there is and so on

can Pechora system shutdown an simultaneous attack of 10 "storm shadow" missiles or 10 tomahowk missiles ?

@berkut2006 сколько на вооружении? Да их сняли уже давно с вооружения вообще-то! Это модернизация старой системы, чтобы за рубеж продавать тем у кого денег нет на что-то новое.
