When Mahinda spoke in Tamil some of these Sinhalese started hooting and shouted this is a Sinhala country, We are Sinhalese, Speak in Sinhala.
But Mahinda refused and replied-This is Sinhala country and you and I are Sinhalese but there are Tamil people here who want to hear me talk.
Mahinda advised the hecklers not to be smart "Pandithayas"&asked them to leave the venue if they did not want to listen to his Tamil speech.

This is a terrible mistake. Some sinhala idiots start shouting " we are sinhalese " ( api sinhala ) when the president begins to speak in Tamil. He gets angry with them and says " yes i am sinhala too. but learn to listen to tamil also" ( mamath sinhala, ahagena innawa demalath ) HERE " demalath " means 'tamil as well' . NOT 'the tamil'. so don't put the blame on the president because you don't understand. he should be praised for his stand.

i was there at the speech he is blaming the small fraction of sinhalese to be patient also try to listen to tamil language .As his speech is in tamil language. Dont spread LIES please we suffered enough.
