Trying out some slower bellydance moves. Ladies, do you find slower or faster bellydancing to be easiest?

Have to add that the reason it looks so windy in my room is because the temperature here is over 100F / 42C so I have to have every fan in the house on full blast.

  • how do you make wind in your room?

  • Lol, the temperature these days is over 100F / 42C, so I have to have every fan in the house on, that's why it looks windy in my room.

  • umm to me is easiest fast.. cause i dont like practicing slow moves so i guess that's why is harder the slow ones for me and you?

  • I think so too, I would say slower moves are harder for me, because of more concentration and isolation.

  • i have been looking for one but hwre did you get the blue dangly beady skirt thing???

  • I think that faster is easier, but I also prefer tribal fusion and slower more defined movements. It takes more talent to be able to slow it down and accent your movements very well.

And, not to sound rude or anything, just my opinion, you should work on not moving your upper body as much. I dont know how long youve been dancing or anything, and im not doubting your talents, but ive noticed you still tend to move your upper body when your trying to travel while you dance.

  • I am still very amateur, but I prefer a tribal or tribal-fusion style of dance, so i prefer the slower movements. I find that they are easier, as I don't have to do so much at once, and it doesn't wear down my endurance. I am still learning how to layer and shimmy though, so this may change with time.

  • I love when a nice, upbeat song slows down for a minute or two right in the middle. But I think I prefer fast dancing. Slow movements tend to focus more on arms, which is exhausting after a while :)

  • Actually this might sound funny but the fans blowing on your hair and skirt kinda give the dance a sort of "Mystic wind" effect.

In as far as speed, I find most bellydancing at its finest when you vary it between fast and slow. Kind of like composing a symphony.

  • I think slower is harder because you gotta really work on the timing, you got time to think about it after getting familiar with the music. Plus it's like someone else said, it's more hypnotic and mesmerizing. But fast is hard for people who're trying to learn it. But it's very impressive for the audience to watch. Either way, both are awesome so it comes down to people's opinions.

I think no matter what, they're both beautiful

  • Hi what's the name of your music please?

  • hehehe i just read all the comments for this... funny to see all the guys saying they like the slower dances better! most of my guy friends say the same!

but it's good to have a variation.
