A home in South Central Los Angeles was re-lanscaped and retrofitted with a 3,600-gallon cistern, a water pump and a dry well. TreePeople invited the media, city officials and local stakeholders to witness the home, as it is bombarded with 4,000 gallons of water.

  • Great idea! 2007 was four years ago. How is this going?

  • awesome!

  • You could cut the price by using eco dome tech as reservoirs these can take on whatever shape you choose to inflate then coat with cement or concrete. GOOGLE MDI domes they have been involved in building tanks homes stadiums schools you name it these guys save money and build disaster resistant structures for cheap. In fact Mr. David South has a reservoir on his dome home it holds 10k gallons I think. LA has its share of moisture I use to live there the dew is a soaker.

  • We need this everywhere. Check out Brad Lancaster's books and his site for more information. All that's needed to get started is a shovel.

  • This is great! I hope that Atlanta wakes up to the need for this now that the most famous Southern Metropolis is facing severe drought. And come to think of it, all farmers should be thinking (if they haven't already) of capturing water from rain too. Duh!
