Serena Ryder performing Ed McCurdy''s "Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream" at the 2009 Calgary Stampede. This was the encore to her afternoon performance, most of which was in too much heavy rain to film from near the stage. Sorry for the poor quality, I rushed to get a good elevated vantage point after the last song of the set but couldn't even make it sixty or so feet away before she came right back on and went at it, so this is what you get, no tweaking with settings and a fair bit of jostling to contend with.

  • Hey folks, this song was written by Ed Mcurdy a Pennsyvanian who married a Canadian, worked as a folk singer, writer and actor.

  • She is amazing and no matter who sings this song makes it sound good. I love her and if you want to hear another great search RubyHawk's version. There is no music but she makes it sound perfect!

  • what's funny is that inspite of this song being about peace and no war, there's fighting on this very board about it.... ;-(

  • First off, this aint a danish song. Second of all, its a Swedish song. Writtien by Cornelius vresvik. You can look him up here on youtube and wiki.

And yes, It was played during our youths years in scandinavia on the radio.

But its not danish, its Swedish.

  • this is such a moving song, and a monumentally moving rendition, I remember a long long drive listening to her sing this on her cd If Your Memory Serves You Well Ill never forget that day.

  • Sprapenis listen - reg. " guns" the text has been changed off course.. its not so hard to understand ! I can try if I can find the lyrics in vikings " old danish" called "runer" - but you wil not understand it.. wil be hard for me to - the text is also in " modern danish" as we had it on our top list ages ago.. by a group here.. and it was also signal for before the news on our radio channel DR . Denmarks Radio " many years ago when I was a child.. you can beleive me ! its danish !

  • There's no apology coming your way... I am not American, I'm Canadian and it doesn't matter anyways. You failed to explain how the lyrics contain the word "gun", when guns were only invented a few hundred years ago. I will not reply anymore until you explain how that is possible..

  • Hello Suprapenis ! sad to say but your are so wrong ! - you can search on google. or you can go to "vikings tones" here on youtube and you wil see that waht I say is the thruth ! the song is made by vikings. thati s what europeans know but as usuall american dontk now anything about history or other country by think they are masters of the world ! your comment are so stupid because you dont know what you are talking about ! learn the history ! am waiting your reply and apology !

  • @nightravenonline Would you stop going around posting that ridiculous comment on every version of this song! The lyrics contain the word "guns"... there were no guns at the time of danish vikings. Think better before you spread lies. Thanks.

  • Thank you for this song made by danish vikings for 1100 years ago and not by americans.
