1) what marine research program involves killing hundreds of the animals you are studying

2) Out of the hundreds of research papers they have produced a mere handful have been peer reviewed and are remotely credible.

I don't this "terrorist" applies, but "pirates" certainly seems to fit. They admit they're trying to destroy the whale meat with the butyric acid which qualifies as "depredation" which is an act of piracy. The reality is, when dealing with a sovereign nation, there's not much to be done. If the whalers pulled out of the IWC (and possibly the U.N.), they could kill as many whales as they wanted with impunity.

It will be interesting -- the Japanese deliberately rammed the Gil, but not before the Gil launched multiple attacks (including both lasers and solid projectiles) against the Japanese ship.
