Flap surgeries for the purpose of hair restoration and hair replacement have largely fallen out of favor with the advent of follicular unit hair transplantation. Technical terms include Temperoparietal-occipital (aka Juri flaps or later modifications -Fleming Mayer) and temperoparietal flaps ( Elliot flaps ). Problems associated with these surgeries are mostly found in the esthetics of the hairline. Commonly, the hairline is too straight, defined necessarily by a scar, a backwardly directed hair angle and abnormally blunted temporal recesses.

In this video, Dr Umar uses his FUE technique (Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer --SFET) to solve the aforementioned problems in a patient that had undergone Juri flap procedure several years prior.

I have a question for DrSumar or anyone with alot of knowledge. As you know hairs "minimize" because they get a shorter and shorter lifespan over the years (so no time to grow big or long). In a unaffected person by baldness those hairs will grow lets say quite long (to to their waist maybe?) If your hair has reached a level at a certain point where the hairs get only about 5 inches long, how much of your hair that you had in store for the rest of your life have you left there? Hard question.?

do the hair placed actually grow? can you get.. say a hair cut to change the style. then it'll grow back?

What I like about this hairline is that it actually looks like a natural hairline. A real hairline is no straight or upperpart-of-a-heart shape. it has a few bows up and down. That's just like a youthfull hairline usually looks. That's also how you can see people's hair transplants, just because the hairlines are too straight and such. You need fine hairs in the beginning, I would even add a bit of ' weirdly placed fine hairs' to make it look 'natural' . Remember, " natural"is not perfect..
