@Murat564 In the documentary I was referring to, they managed to kill not just 1, but a few very large adult elephants over a period of time, so you can't be talkin of the same one. These elephants were MUCH larger than a rhino, thus logic will tell any person of average intelligence or better, that lions could kill a rhino. Just because there are no records that you are aware of that lions have killed a rhino, doesn't mean they aren't capable of it.

@accord21 i think i may know the one video your referring to. at least a dozen lions taking down one (not particularly big) female elephant. i don't know if the captured elephant can really be called adult or whether it's healthy but maybe it is all that. so lions may indeed occasionlly manage to kill young adult female elephants (not matriarchs, or bulls), if they have the moment of surprise, a big enough group (around 10-12) and nighttime on their side and if the elephant is alone.

There is a documentary by national geographic on it also, that you haven't seen and I have, thus you are ignorant to it.
