The music is sublime.

(John DonneO
DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,

Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,

I do not see this piece of music as sad, pensive, atmospheric, profound, harmonious with a slow cadence and so incredibly peaceful, but not sad...

I agree. This music isn't sad.

The use of this 19th century romantic romanticized musical view of in part death was emotively apt for Kubrick's Barry Lyndon the movie since death (death of youthful dreams when earning a living confronts coming of age persons, duels, father son aggression thus death of a family, combat, typical of the period children dying, ...) permeates the entire movie.

Death is negative, horrifying; it makes living seem absurd and yet unimaginably precious in its fragility.I can't do mental backflips so I can think that death is anything but a horrible tragedy.I don't want to become food for worms, but Existence is quite devoid of sympathy for my terror; so it is. My conclusion is that I must treasure and cherish every moment, every breath, every good and beautiful thing I encounter. You think and like Schubert :).That's good.Thank you for this conversation.

Thank you too, I have enjoyed every word of it.
