  • Superb!!

    A truly important social document.

    Many thanks.

  • Thank you. I have a lot more. I preserved on tape all the eastern Bloc countries shortwave transmissions before they fell in the Spring of 1989. I also have Iraq and Israel transmissions, as well as Syria and others, during the first Desert War. I will post soon.

  • @TechnerVideo Looking forward to those!! ;-)

  • You might like to browse the Media Network archive of Radio Netherlands, where about 200 programmes have now been posted on line and which are studio copies of the programmes I hosted and produced. jonathanmarksdotlibsyndotcom/

  • Great! Reminds me of my own beginnings as a shortwave listener 26 years ago. Nice to hear all those vintage interval signals and announcements again. I have also recorded most of those staions on tape.

  • @MyBucharest It isn't true! Still broadcasting on shortwave are the external services of Voice Of America, Canada International, Exterior De Espana, BBC World Service, Voice Of Russia, Polish Radio, Radio France International, Lybia, Radio Cairo, Voice Of Nigeria, Brazil, Voice Of Korea, All India Radio, Australia, New Zealand International, China, Israel, Turkey, Greece, DW, RTE Worldwide Ireland, religious like WHRI, WYFR, AWR, TWR, broadcasting in hundreds of languages.

  • Awesome!

  • where did they all go! shortwave is pretty much redundant with modern technology taken them away, such a shame.today the shortwave band is like being in a graveyard full of memories and completely dead!!!

  • @TechnerVideo Did I say forwards?!? I meant backwards.

  • Superb! Thanks for sharing great radio memories!!

  • This is awesome - brings back so many memories.

Please post more - maybe the HCJB logon or Larry Wayne's show daily comedic news from DW?

  • Thank you! This is great stuff. I lived in Philly in the 80s, too.

  • This really brings back the memories for me. My amateur radio hobby was borne out of shortwave listening in the early 1980's. Thanks for posting.... I subscribed!

  • I watched this one, and part 2, as well as the Christmas Island one. I enjoyed all.

In 1977 I received a shortwave radio for my 14th birthday. This was when we lived in North Jersey. So from 1977 through 1985 I did a lot of Shortwave listening. I really miss it, but reception is from terrible to non-existant, here in the Pine Barrens.

    I really enjoy your channel.

    Take care.
