@beakt Yeah you're mostly correct. But the rag "Euphonic Sounds", when played fast, just sounds stupid. I like the tempo Joshua Rifkin plays.

This is excellent. Joplin was a master composer, not much appreciated in his time,
and hardly more today. It's the way of things folks, crap crowds out quality.

I hate how Ragtime nowadays has become such a childish thing. I only hear it in child instrumental pianos and whenever the Ice-Cream truck passes by. Really, Ragtime needs to come back and take this modern day nonsense by storm.

Every one of these videos there is some self-appointed ragtime professor who sniffs about how it's "too fast". This IS the appropriate tempo. This is a Cakewalk, which is a slow march. These are sixteenth notes, people! That's why it might "sound" fast, but try stepping to the actual beat. It's not supposed to be a slow, boring, smarmy ballade you can't dance to, like so many people who post on YouTube think. This video presents this rag probably at just the tempo Scott Joplin liked them.
