We heard CP 291 call up for Winona, which is about 3 miles from where we were. We usually see a lot of people walking on and near the tracks in this area. Just so happened to catch these two girls right before and as the crossing activates for 291. Sorry for the quality as it was getting dark and my lens was almost at full zoom.

  • Can you re-upload? Its running cruddy.

  • @ELTIGREROCKS10NEW Sorry. I'm not sure I have it anymore.

  • I'm so sick of all these rail buff "do gooders" making all kinds of comments about how "suicidal" it is to walk down the tracks.

We're not talking high speed North East corridor trains here.

Even with no xing gates or horns you'd have to be pretty deaf not to here a train coming, unless of course you had runaway cars rolling along with no engines.

Now if you're walking along with headphones on, listening to music, you are indeed a moron.

    Otherwise, no big deal.

    Open your fucking ears

  • Like I said in reply to another comment on here... They could hear the train, but waited until the gates went down to get off the tracks. What if the gates had malfunctioned and didn't go down? When the train came around the curve, would they have had enough time to react? And if they did, what if one of them tripped? I know you can't base your life on "what ifs" but this just seems completely preventable and only takes a little common sense.

  • It doesn't appear they were in much danger, though if there had been no gate or signals around (or if the gate and/or signals had malfunctioned), they could have been toast.

  • Yeah...the fact that even though they could hear the train coming, they waited until the gates went down to get off the tracks is what got me. I guess I don't like playing with my life like that...

  • @SPUPRR - Somehow I'm left feeling that YOU are stupid.

  • @johnnycaboosehead well, for one it is illegal to walk on the tracks or right of way.....and it is stupid.

  • @Cndr289932 It soulds like you study such statistics. You must be a boring son of a bitch. There is no danger in walmking between the tracks. You can feel the vibration of the train 1/2 mile away. That gives the trespasser about 30 seconds to move 3 feet out of the way to safety. A person could trip and fall 5 times and still make it to safety. I think you get a thrill out of inventing danger and playing railroad cop.You should discover girls. If you can find one that will date a dilbert like you

  • @rockchickvw I agree 100%! We were at a Navy ship commissioning a few weeks ago and three trains went by, i didnt hear two of them! However, they were in a quiet zone but it proved that trains are quiet. The only thing that tipped me off on one was the high pitched idling of an SD70.

  • Why walk on the track in the first place? Theres enough space alongside for a fuckin tank to drive down.

  • @rockchickvw Hopefully thengineer would be looking and see the trespassers and sound his horn. Curves are so gradual that you can see someone ahead in plenty of time for them to get out of foul. Blasting the horn may startle one into fainting. At first I would starthe bell and do a slight horn blast .

If no immediate reaction, full blast - maybe moron using earphones.

  • STUPID BITCHES!!!

  • Girls knew the grade crossing signals would warn them if a train were approaching.

The signals did and they moved away from the tracks.

Hopefully an engineer would see trespassers and warn them with the horn as soon as they came into view.
