American Gothic in TOAST

For our 1st anniversary we recreated American Gothic with over 4,000
slices of bread. White/"cinnamon"/black. We used liquid clay slip to
paint the "cinnamon" and an aceteline torch to burn the black. The size
was 18' x 22'. Using 13 sheets of plywood, a grid was penciled on and
each color coded so we knew what color went where. Artist David
Ballinger broke the original into the 3 values of white/gray/black.
Alan Poorman took charge of getting the bread from the day old Wonder
Bread store. Made the grid for the plywood, and working out the
logistics of the project. We used flour glue to adhere the bread to the
wood. At the end of the day the bread was taken to a wildlife habitat,
and the strand board was donated and used by Habitat for Humanity as
the roof decking on their house in Danville. GAllery on the Square is a
co-op of artists sponsored by the Hendricks County Arts Council, and
