Riccardo Chailly & Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra - Mahler Symphony No. 8

ACCENTUS Music September release: Mahler's Eighth Symphony is arguably the grandest and most ambitious piece of symphonic music ever written. The composer himself regarded it as his opus summum, and an incredible number of participants at the hugely successful Munich première in 1910 earned it the nickname "Symphony of a Thousand". At Leipzig's International Mahler Festival, Riccardo Chailly commanded almost 500 musicians, and the overwhelming result of their joint effort inspired the Leipzig-based and internationally renowned artist Neo Rauch to the painting "Chor" for the cover of this release on DVD and Blu-ray. The title will be available at the end of September.

Bernstein, who died in 1990, seems to be who you're talking about! I feel goofy using exclamation marks as periods but you make it look like fun!

I can hardly wait! You certainly chose the right conductor for this feat! There is NONE living who can compare to Maestro Chailly! What immense energy and passion... he is ASTONISHING! And his interpretation of Mahler cannot be rivaled! Show me a conductor who can compare to Riccardo Chailly and I'll show you a resurrected Mahler! BRAVO, Maestro!
