@maxbravo I have seen on Thai flights to Singapore, some THAI FA s wearing Cheongsam and speaking mandarin/cantonese...Thank you for informing me..now I understand why on a short THAI flight,Bangkok-Saigon FA is wearing ordinary uniform but on a long THAI flight,Bangkok-Stockholm they wear the silk dress.

No answer for this silly question
Can anyone explain why on international flights female FA's have silk dresses as opposed to the 'regular' (purple and pink) FA-uniforms on domestic flights?

As per above question, Thai International Airways Flight Attendants (air hostesses) wear Thai silk dresses for international flights that have flight times of more than 1 1/2 hours and they change to normal (regular) uniforms before landing, except on quick-turn flights.

They also change to normal regular uniforms for last meal served on international flights, one and a half hour before landing. For example: TG916, BKK-LHR. All flight attendants (air hostesses) wear Thai-silk uniforms for departure from Bangkok and serve first meal (dinner). Before they serve the second meal (one and a half hour before landing), breakfast, they change to regular uniforms, with purple apron. This is also the case on return flights to Bangkok.

They do not wear Thai silk uniforms on domestic flights or international flights of less than 1 1/2 hours of flight time. As for foreign Thai FAs, they are not allowed to wear Thai silk uniforms. If you see a flight attendant not wearing Thai silk uniforms, while others do, then that means that that flight attendant is not Thai.
