The tree width should be wide enough for the saddle to fit when the horse is in movement.

  • Such a fantastic series, bless you for helping horse people everywhere to understand such a vital part of horse ownership.

I have a question that I feel a little silly asking but I thought who would know better than you. I have a dressage saddle that I love and it seems to fit my horse and myself very nicely, I was wondering, is it alright to do pleasure riding in a dressage saddle, or do I really need another? Many thanks.

  • @0Kazeshini0 It is first and foremost important that the saddle fits the horse in motion and is comfortable for the rider and allows the rider to be in an ideal riding position naturally, without having to struggle to keep one's correct alignment of shoulders, hips and heels. If you and your horse are both comfortable in your dressage saddle I see know reason why it would be necessary to change saddles on a hack - competitive endurance riding is another subject completely.

  • Awesome Videos!! Thankyou SO much. I really dont think you are about to come to Australia to help me with my horses saddlefit - but these videos are the next best thing!

  • @OakyPoke Thank you for your comment. Peter Horobin of Horobin Saddlery in Australia uses the same Saddlefit4Life philosophy to fit saddles to horses that Schleese Saddlery uses. I would suggest that you contact Peter Horobin to discuss both you and your horse's needs.

  • Brilliant video series, just watched all 9 - a lot of information in there that isn't generally taught! I have a question though - I noticed you mentioned that Peter Horobin in Aus does similar things to you, is there an equivalent in NZ? Thanks!

  • I also want to thank you so much. I have been doing dressage on my own and have been curious as to how to tell if the saddle is fitting my horse or not. I will go use what you have shown in this series of videos to check. Again, thank you so much for putting these up!

  • Thanks.I am so weird! I got a $35.00 saddle( it was at one of those stores where everything is a third of what it's supposed to be) and I don't have a horse yet. I am going to try my hardest to do everything that your videos taught me to make me and my horse happy!

  • 1000 times thank you for charing this video's

  • My gelding has a very similar wither shape. This was very informative! I will be do a MUCH more detailed saddle fit check! Thank you!!!

  • Just wanted to say thanks for a series of very informative videos. Very helpful and easily explained.

  • Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I'm going to use these videos when I fit a new saddle to my horse,

  • Excellent ,thank you for doing such a informative series

  • thank you very much, this was very helpfull!. :))))

  • Very, very helpful! I have a Thoroughbred Jumper that has high withers and wide shoulders just like the horse in this video. I recently had a wide tree cc saddle fitted to him, and he's like a whole new horse. You said something at the end of this video.... "I hope you're not going to lose your partner to ill fitting equipment like I did"... May I ask what happened to your horse?
