Do people really need to be so anal about the different style Sonata is using? I love every song these guys put out but if every album were like Ecliptica, it would get so annoying and old. This album is fantastic, it's new and heavier, and still has a Sonata feel to it. It's his voice you people aren't listening to. His voice hold the Sonata feel. I WANT them to expand and if you guys don't like their new stuff, then don't fucking listen it's simple as that.

This is no Sonata classic, but it's catchy and fun. They're making music and having fun and trying new things. I salute them for being brave enough to try and do things that are out of the box - that really does take guts. SGHN as an album has its ups and downs, but it's still pretty solid. I look forward to seeing what they do with these songs in a live setting when I see them in 12 days' time! :)

personally, I don't mind this new sound, same for Edguy. It's like a modern form of hair/glam rock, and I don't see that as a bad thing, since power metal essentially sounds like a more technical/virtuoso form of hair metal.

The "same old" type of mindset transcends into to virtually every field, be it film, music, video games, cars, etc. People tend to know what they like and stick to that. In some instances it's almost like they "fear" they might like something different - like they will betray themselves or the thing(s) they like, so they purposely dislike anything out of their "comfort zone."

That's true! Even if Ecliptica was their first album and a powerful debut they have to evolve!

But Ecliptica was also their most sold album followed by Silence!

    31.000+ pleople can't be wrong! :)

I'm still a big fan even if their new songs are not quite as I would like they show a lot of creativity and you have to admire that! :)

It's true Sonata Arctica's new songs are quite different then the first albums but they're still my favorite band!

Exactly! They are a Progressive Power metal band... Ecliptica is the most boring of their albums because it was the first and was nothing but speed metal every song, but still a good album... Its nice to hear rythmm and experimental in their sound, especially since they still have a meaning to every single song!

Look everybody. I like the old Sonata Arctica albums as much as the next metal-head, but come on, does their new stuff really deserve all this hate? I get it, some fans may be disappointed because they changed their musical style for Stones Grow Her Name, but the new sound they've developed is bloody amazing.

Seriously, what happened with the POWER METAL? This song sucks. "I Have A Right" and "Somewhere close to you" are the only songs I like from Stones Grow Her Name. I miss Ecliptica's style ):
