Written and produced by Lez Barstow for BNFL in 1990, The Mighty Atom was well received by its primary school audience of five to nine year olds. Unfortunately, the anti-nuclear lobby did not agree and criticized the movie as being a piece on propaganda for the nuclear industry (which of course it was). They failed to appreciate that the film did an extremely good job of explaining a complex subject.

John Mayfield's music was excellent, as was Ephraim Lewis on vocals. As usual, Roy Evans' did a great job on animation combining clarity with great humanity and subtle humour.

  • Many thanks Joe. I like to think it was easy to understand because I am not a scientist- It had to be!
