Mikayla's POV
Nick and Riley walked in front of Lily and I as Nick led us to the table. Lily's face was red with frustration and I tried to keep my eyes on Nick's Converse clad feet in front of me. It worked. Until Lily bashed me in the rib with her fist.
"Ouch," I winced and rubbed my arm. "What was that for?"
"What is this? 'International Keep the Biggest Secret of Your Life From Your SUPPOSED Best Friend Day'!?"
"It's not a big deal, Lils. I didn't even know he WAS Nick Jonas. It was dark and he didn't tell me his last name." I replied cooly.
Lily's mouth plopped open into a cute little circle.
Then the words registered in my brain; 'It was dark and he didn't tell me his last name'.
"Evangeline Addison Larkin!" I whisper shouted as I whipped my head around to face her. "What do you take me for!?" I tried to be serious but we both errupted into a fit of quiet giggles instead.
We finally sat down at the table. Now that we'd got there, there was only one chair vacant that someone was obviously still occupying because they're was a massive mess of food in front of it. I wondered if that seat was for Nick's brother Joe that he had told me about last night. Probably. I could immediately tell who was who in this family. Nick gave very vivid descriptions.
I looked over at the pretty curly hair woman sitting across from me. She looked up at me and gave the most brilliantly comforting and beautiful smile I had ever seen in my entire life, aside from my own mother's smile anyways. I felt my cheeks fill with color and I wasn't too sure why I was blushing. She just smiled at me. Why blush about that?
I glanced across the table once again and saw a little boy, he couldn't have been any older than eight or nine. He was adorable and I knew immediately that was Frankie. Nick didn't have to tell me about him last night. I was already aware of the "Bonus Jonas" by my younger cousins who constantly gushed over him. It still amazes me how I didn't recognize Nick sooner. I mean, it's not like I lived under a rock. I knew who the Jonas Brothers were. I just never took the time to become a fan. Ironic now, isn't it? Ha.
Kevin, I assumed, since he was the only brother left aside from Joe, finally spoke up. "So do you live around here?" he asked. His smile was friendly and his eyes seemed genuinely curious.
"Nah. Mikayla, Lil, and I are pretty much all over the place." Riley replied with a nervous chuckle.
Mrs. Jonas raised an eyebrows questioningly.
"My mom, she uh, travels alot. So we get to tag along." I explained, trying not to have to explain to everyone who my mother was exactly.
"That's very interesting." Mrs. Jonas smiled warmly and my heart fluttered inside my chest. What the heck?
"What kind of work does she do?" Mrs. Jonas continued.
"She's uh, a writer." I replied, putting it as simply as possible.
"That must be very exciting."
"Yeah, she's pretty great." Lily added. I kicked her shin under the table.
Joe didn't join us for the rest of breakfast and unfortunately, the Jonas's had to leave wayyyy too soon. While Mrs. Jonas checked out, Riley, Lily, and I waited with Nick, Frankie, and Kevin. I wonder where Mr. Jonas and Joe are? Huh, interesting.
Frankie had really taken a liking to Lily and I. At the moment, he was glommed onto one of each of our legs, begging us not to leave. Lily and I laughed and promised we'd call or text him everyday. It surprised me that an eight year old had a cell phone. But it shouldn't have. Come on. He IS a Jonas. Mrs. Jonas came back and we all exchanged hugs. I hugged Kevin first, then Frankie, Mrs. Jonas, and finally Nick. He put his arms over my shoulders and I hugged his waist gently as he did to my shoulders. As we pulled away I noticed Kevin with a huge grin on his face.
