Looking at that it's hard to believe that any horse could carry Mr A J Wilson round Cheltenham, he seems to dwarf poor old Cima!

I'm guessing that the early frontrunner Krug is the same horse that ran in the previous year's Derby?

Cima was runner up to the great Dawn Run in the Champion Hurdle. Shiny Copper was a poor winner of the race, as they often were when the field was bigger, run at a cutthroat pace and soft ground. There were decent horses behind, especially Royal Vulcan, who on his day was a match for all but the very best hurdlers.

Yes I believe it is the same horse. One of many Derby also rans that over the years have foun themselves over hurdles. Sea Pigeon 7th to Morston in in 1973 and Gran Alba 6th to Nashwan in 1989 are 2 that spring to mind.
