GOP Senators Speak Up for Democracy in Honduras

Senators Jim DeMint (R-SC), Mel Martinez (R-Florida), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) hold a press conference to support the people of Honduras against the actions of Manuel Zelaya who sought to defy the Honduras constitution and is aligned with anti-democratic leaders Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Raul Castro of Cuba and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.

1) To those who think the issues in Honduras is not their problem, think again and carefully. Chavez is taking possession of Latin American countries, one by one, hes got the means to do it (money), means provided by Venezuelan oil and drugs (FARC). He sponsored Mel Zelayas campaign; He is buying peoples allegiances to protest against democracy and freedom here in Honduras. Hes sponsoring infiltrates to make riots and weaken the country. I know this for a fact, I live here.

With 19 years of military service, I salute you Senators for taking a vital interest into the democratic defense of Honduras. I have served in Honduras, and will tell anyone that although a poor country, Hondurans are proud of their young Democracy. No one is above the Constitution We cannot turn our backs on the only central American country, that allow us to maintain a military partnership and a strategically permanent presence there. Where were they when death squads killed people wonton style. Where were they when the contras were maiming children and nuns and cardinals were being killed ,raped.
