I put a normal cd on a 25,000 RPM router and cranked it up to full speed. The centripetal force is too much for the cd and it flies apart. On this particular cd, the foil surface held the cd together so I had to give it some "motivation" with my crappy airsoft gun. Normally, they fly apart on their own. The router really doesn't go fast enough to make it fly apart on its own. My 35000 rpm dremel works much better. 10,000 rpm can determine whether the cd spins "normally" or flies apart.

  • @klstrucker930419 yup basically. it spun to the point it couldnt hold itself together and thus ripped apart. so fast it looked like an explosion.

  • normal reaction of a weak material.the material begins to stretch .... and then it break.

  • Still i cn't understand why did it explode. Just because of speed?

  • nice airsoft gun
