KrisCan sits down with Chris Nelder, energy analyst and author of Profit From The Peak, to discuss the consequences of the U.S. shutting down domestic offshore drilling. In this first of seven video segments, he talks about the BP disaster in the Gulf and what the U.S. should have been doing with its energy policy for the last thirty years.

  • Bicycles are leagle vehicles in every state. Bicycles use much less resouces than cars, do less damage to roads, but still needs oil for roads and to make parts. Once we get to a point, all the oil that is left will be inaccessible as it will take more energy to get then wil produced.

Only the most practible vehicles should be allowed, and cars are not it....

  • Good to see you back and a great interview.

  • This and then the platform explodes in the Gulf! Great ideas from everyone including the commentors below, localize, zero debt slaver options, and more.

  • Great to see you back in production! And a terrific interview to boot - thank you! You might be interested in a blog post this morning called 'The Dangers of Backwardization' at Economic Undertow blogspot.

  • 2.

When we can't get produce flown in from south America anymore we'll have to adapt and a great way to get fresh produce is to sprout seeds and beans. I can really feel the difference when I eat sprouts. It's like it takes 10 years off my age or something.

This morning (about an hour ago) I reached my goal of finally getting my mortgage paid off. That will drop my usual spending to less than 1/3 of my take home pay. Now things would have to get REALLY bad before I find myself homeless.

  • Woa! Long time no see! Still looking great.

I heard about peak oil long before I heard about the economic collapse and I've adjusted my lifestyle to deal with it the best way I can. I live close to work, have a half hour commute (on my bicycle) or 12 minutes by car. I quit my job as a heavy diesel truck mechanic and now I fix transit buses for the county. And I adjusted my finances for when everything gets more expensive. I cook my own meals grind my own wheat for bread and do a lot of sprouting

  • Beautiful.

  • Keep dancing, it's very cute.
