  • @ptrimblegocfsnet capture the desperation that Buckley had intended? What about the way Cohen had intended? I adore Buckleys version to be fair but I don't think any artist can really perform it quite like the creator of the song. The actual original is so moving, even moreso that Buckleys rendition. The way you said you loved the original , it sounded like you consider Jeff to be the original. If thats so, Im kinda jealous because youve yet to feel the power of the Cohen :)

  • I don't like this rendition of this song. In my opinion, the original is slow, moving, and sad-- it is for those reasons that I love it so much. With this version, the strings makes the song sound quicker, and happier, than the original. Others may like it, and that is their right. To me, however, I would prefer a slower version of it to really capture the desperation of life that Buckley had intended...
