This is an update to my first video with the PC actually assembled (it has been for a long time), and is long overdue since I made the last video over a year and a half ago. Hope you enjoy.

  • nice vid bro really old mobo though i still use one in my wifes pc was wondering what settings u used for your overclock im tryin to sqeeze a little more performance out of her e6600 but not sure what settings to change want to go to mabey just 2.66 or little higher help would be appreciated thanks

  • @asus3571 (Continued) I forget what it is at now to get to 3.4Ghz, but I also had to slightly increase the clock for my RAM (I think to 810Mhz) .

  • @asus3571 (continued)

As for the oldness of the board, even though its pushing 3 years I don't regard the board as old. Socket 775 is not obsolete yet even though the new i3, i5, i7 line is popular right now. I can still upgrade my CPU from what I currently have to a faster processor that I can over clock even higher (probably above 4 GHz), so I'm not seeing and major benefits for my money of getting a new mobo. I'm enjoying the one I have, that is customized to my hearts desire. :-)

  • @asus3571 Just to let you know, there is also a good community on overclock(dot)net which helped me learn the ropes on overclocking this board in specific (there is a huge thread dedicated to just the P5N-E SLI) and you can compare clock speeds, voltages, and other settings that work with other people's boards. Some people have done some amazing overclocks with this board.

  • so this motherboard does support crossfire right?

  • I just happened to see this video at 777 views. INTERESTING.

  • @YeshuaYehoshua yea graphics is a major concern for me with that mobo i was going to use a gt240 or similar but affraid the board wont recognize it as no matter what bios i use it will not take a gts250 but for an htpc gt240 should be good as far as the 5770 the main reason as youve stated driver probs still haunt ati so i have never used ati and wont untill they drivers finally come of age

  • @asus3571 3GHz will be more than enough for an HTPC, but what really counts in that case is how good a graphics card you have because it will be shouldering most of the burden for video intensive processing. The more GRAM on the card and the faster the card runs the better. My Radeon 5770 HD runs like a dream on my PC. I think there are some driver problems with it though because sometimes it hangs while playing video, which it never used to do. It runs flawlessly with games though. ~Good Luck

  • @YeshuaYehoshua yea i got the e6600 at 3ghz with a 1333 runs nice thinking about converting it to an htpc what ya think?

  • @asus3571 Hi, sure I'll try to help you overclock it a bit. I have a C2d E6750 which runs 2.66 Ghz stock, so my overclock is up to 3.4 GHz now. The best way for me to help you might be to just make another video of me tweaking the settings in my BIOS. I will try to get around to doing that soon. I can tell you though that for my CPU that the multiplier is locked at 8x so I just upped the FSB to 1600 which gave me 3.2GHz.
