LTD engine nr 6 'Pumping-station'

This is an LTD engine, made as a water-pump. The source of inspiration was the new booklet by Rudy Mémin (ISBN 2-9518283-4-9) that contained a demonstration model of a water-pump.
The little pump was built according to the design drawings. However I have made it with a different outline.
The water tank is divided into three segments with three different water levels to show the course of the water from high to low more clearly and to give an impression of the pressure height of the pump.
The LTD engine starts pumping at a temperature difference of about 20º C and works on solar energy, on the heat of a light-bulb ( 10 w halogen ) or on a tea-warmer with a heat-cup of aluminum.
On principle this engine is self-starting with the balance spring when the difference in temperature is over 30º C.
I made this demonstration model to show that the over pressure and under pressure of a Stirling engine is a workable method to operate a small water-pump.
I called this engine 'Pumping-station' because it shows the complete cycle of pumping and draining.

  • these could sell for thousands at art shows...

  • im so thirsy watching this

  • it's nice to see one of these actually doing something so we can see that there might be a purpose to all this effort. good job mdevink.

  • How does this work? Just really interested how? Awsome job!

  • Hmm, Efficient machine! I wonder what happens when you run it on Thermite! XD

Oh ya, what's this music? I've been hearing it on a few videos lately...

  • Memin*

  • I really want to build this but can't find Rudy Menin's drawings. :(

  • Fire too polutant, fire is not polutant what you burn is, you can run a stirling engine with a fire burning lets say hydrogen then it won't polute that much. Grow a brain.
