Did Jesus Christ really rise from the dead?

Is there evidence that Jesus rose from the dead?

"Christianity and Islam"

A truly remarkable series of four debates held at four Canadian universities on four different questions.

Day 1: Did Jesus of Nazareth Physically Rise From the Dead?

Representing the Muslim perspective was Shabir Ally: Shabir Ally has earned a B.A. in Religious Studies from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, with a specialization in Biblical Literature, and an M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Quranic Exegesis.

He is now in his third year of Ph.D studies in Quranic Exegesis at the University of Toronto.

He is the president of the Islamic Information & Dawah Centre International in Toronto where he functions as Imam.

He travels internationally to represent Islam in public lectures and interfaith dialogues.

He explains Islam on a weekly television program called "Let the Quran Speak.

Representing the Christian side was Dr. William Lane Craig: Dr. William is Research Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California.

He lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife Jan and their two teenage children Charity and John.

At the age of sixteen as a junior in high school, he first heard the message of the Christian gospel and yielded his life to Christ.

Dr. Craig pursued his undergraduate studies at Wheaton College (B.A. 1971) and graduate studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.A. 1974; M.A. 1975), the University of Birmingham (England) (Ph.D. 1977), and the University of Munich (Germany) (D.Theol. 1984).

  • Craig guilty of God-of-the-gaps-argument? He follows the evidence where it logically leads to. If up to now it has been empirically verified that only an intelligent cause could create specified complexity and if this is what we find in the cell, it is logical to deduce that there is an intelligent cause. Should you argue the opposite (without any proof), I believe you are guilty of the natural-selection-of-the-gaps argument.

  • because they are waiting for the prophet to come in glory and Jesus will come and he will 'cause I'm Christian

  • @Bucklehairy Natural selection? I'm sorry to break it to you, but even creationists accept the concept of natural selection..

Ignorance is never impressive. So please, don't show it off.

  • "Those who use the sword will be killed by the sword. Don't you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?"(Matthew 26:52-53).

This shows Jesus was now in perfect contentment that his prayer was accepted and all could be left now in the hands of God, with no need for active self-defence.

  • God Accepted His Prayer

The prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane was the most important and grand prayer offered by Jesus and portrayed quite vividly in the Gospels. It is inconceivable that the prayer did not reach the Divine Throne, especially as Jesus taught his disciples the power of prayer.

After his supplication in the garden, when Jesus was apprehended, one of his followers drew a sword, struck a servant of a high priest and cut off his ear. Jesus sternly rebuked him and said:
