A Series of ten unusually shaped "canvases." Shapes inspired by Frank Stella's shaped canvases of the late 1960s and early 1970s combined with the humanism that figuration provides.
I drew the shape first because creating a unique shape was of predominant importance, then I used methods and resources to fit images, most of which are photo-based, into the shape.
I took digital photos of places nearby and of me, then composited them using Photoshop on an Intel iMac.
As separate, independent works, all of the images are printed out and made into low relief sculptures that hang on a wall except for the second one as seen in the video; It is the last one that I made in the series, and is not yet finished; It remains only as a digital composite on my computer. Yet I am not sure that I will finish it to the same extent as the others because it seems otherwise to be visually complete the way it is.
The musical accompaniment is from Dance of the Clowns from a Midsummer's Night Dream
