Lets see if you can do the following: Rotate the camera in sync with the torso rotation, in a way that the torso stays completely put. This way we can really study what the arm is doing.

I see some dislikes and I agree with them. Kids who came across this video by mistake saw "skeleton-freaking-guy" and they pressed the dislike button.
But anybody who loves tennis will enjoy this educational animation. Thanx

its really cool how you do this man

wow great animation

this would be accurate except roger isn't human.

1:30 I dont think federer shakes his head that much when he hits the inside out =)
-
I suppose he extends his arm that much to get enough control out of his powerful string setup. Looks unhealthy for the shoulder though. As great as his results are, but I wouldn't try to emulate that forehand 1:1.

damn even his skeletton plays sexy tennis!

@tommyenglish1 - Slice as in serve...? or the drop shot that jumps to the seating areas...? These are 'slice' shots. 'Under spin' is the correct term... Would also like to see this on the FH & BH. Cheers.

lol do a tweener
Nice work Andy.......can you shed some light on the wrist action from the beginning of the stroke until the end........it is certainly not fixed and it's difficult to determine what type of movement is actually going on and whether this is a "trained" or conscious action with his forehand or an effect of other forces (kinetic)...........there is a lot of controversy in the coaching world today around this....

@poida007
I would be happy to try and answer any specific questions you might have. I will respond to your email directly. I will say that wrist movement just prior to, during, and just after contact is negligible.

Hey, can you tell me if his arm is fully extended before he starts his shoulder rotation, or after?
fedfanbrandon 1 year ago
@fedfanbrandon
The greatest extension occurs well after the shoulders start rotating. There are 6 links used to describe the kinetic chain or segments of the body. 1.) ankle to the knee, 2.) knee to the hip, 3.) hip to the shoulder (making up the torso), 4.) the upper arm (shoulder to elbow), 5.) forearm, 6.) wrist/hand. Energy is transferred up through the body as each link stops or slows down. So, as the shoulders stop rotating or slow down, energy is then transferred to the arm.
