Beethoven Leonore Overture no. 1, op. 138

Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827)

Beethoven composed four overtures to his only opera, Fidelio. The first is Leonore Overture no. 1, followed by Leonore no. 2, 3 and the ultimate Fidelio Overture. It has a high opus number because the proprer Beethoven had withdrawn it. So, it was heard for the first time one year after his death and nowadays is considered separated from his opera works.

Sorry, I haven't gotten information regarding orchestra and conductor. If I had, I'd have posted it with the music. I don't like lack of identification either.

No. Despite the numbering, "#1" was actually written third, for a planned 1807 performance in Prague. Leonore #2 was the first overture.

The connection starting at 1:37 up is very similar to a connection in his 3rd piano concerto, 1st movement at the end of the 1st theme.
