The sea was the lifeblood of this fishing community in Hafun, Somalia, that quietly thrived on selling fish to Yemen and the Arab Emirates. But the tsunami took the lives of some 150 people in Somalia and poisoned the precious little fresh water supply the people had here. UNICEF has set up a solid infrastructure of boreholes, vital in the dry winter months, when water borne diseases spread rapidly among the children.

if somalies hate the west why do they ask the west for help when they have problems or need food last time the west fed them when they were starving they turned against the west and burned the flag now they are starving again and they ask for help i think that is disrespectful and it is there governments responsabilaty to take care of them. remember don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Actually it is thought to have Oil, that is why Range Resources, Africa Oil and the Lundin Group are all exploring it.
It is said to have an estimated 10 billion barrels. 200 million cubic feet of gas has been proven however.

I agree. Somalis in the West don't contribute enough yet they have supplied their people with money, money which the economy (or what is left of it) really needs.
More needs to be done.

If we all do little to help, we can do alot. What a sad story! There are over hundernd thousand somalis in Canada over 300 hundernd thousand somalis in US if 40 thousand of these pays 1 dollar
a day that is over 14000000 in a year .Under a thousand dollars can supply clean water in a small village. With in a year we can solve this problem in somalia. If you are realy care about those childeren start giving.Blaming some body else means that u do not want to take responsibility.Walaahi we can help.

FYI Haitianized: Puntland does have oil, and the Australians, not the Americans, are trying to get it (see: Range Resources Puntland). Operation Restore Hope was spearheaded by the US and mandated by the UN to restore order in Somali so that humanitarian aid could be delivered. Now you want to pin blame at the US for the tsunami? Hundreds of thousands of Somalis live here in the USA now. Stop blaming us for everything bad that happens. It's not that black/white. What about your warlords?
