India is reluctant to buy S-300 because of logistics issues. S-300 missiles did not have active seekers is another drawback.
Stupid chinks were given the go ahead by the Russians to reverse engineer S-300s. Chinks call it HQ-9. I am sure, it is with semi-active seekers. It means chinks have to illuminate the target to get a lock on. S-300 or its reverse engineered variants have definite drawbacks !!
It is a very good idea for India to partner w/ Israel. They both face a similar kind of threat. As both P-stan & Israel are heavily dependent of U.S. technology, Israel will give India some real insights into P-stan's abilities. It is long past time we cut the P-stanis off. They have long out lived their usefullness to just about anyone.
Ghar ki murgi dal barabar I don't know what is special about Spyder. Akash System is much better and having twice the range over Spyder 30 Km

Akash will be inducted in large numbers by both IAF and Indian army.
Spyder carries two kinds of missiles.
python-5- 20 km (can also be used as a air to air Within visual range missile)
Derby-50 km (can also be used as a Beyond visual range missile)
Akash will be mass produced. No need to worry. IAF has asked for 8 squadrons and Army may go for 6 squadrons.
India and Israel is also working on
Barak-8 with 70 km(Medium range SAM)
Active seekers are the plus points for both spyder and barak
