I'm so thankful for this families awesome example teaching people the RIGHT way to teach children about guns. This child will grow up to respect guns and will never use them for criminal activity. You should know criminals will not be messing with this family and would not be messing with yours if you'd only exercise your second amendment right to bear arms. And that includes the responsible teaching of your children about how to bear arms properly.

What is the fundamental purpose of a gun?

It's not like a knife. A knife can be used to kill, but also as a tool for cutting meat for example. What is ONE other purpose of a gun other than to kill, or something that isn't a derivitive of it's use to kill, e.g. to deter crime, because theives don't want to be shot and maimed/killed.
