Hi , welcome to a video tutorial by http://www.waalbrug.com/

My name is Jasper also known as TherSiteZ and in this tutorial I'm going to show you how to make a reverse garage bass used in a track called RIP Groove by Double 99. Let hear how it sounds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnaRK8e_Ls0

You can use any subtractive synth to make this bass. You can use Thor but I like to use the subtractor for this one, because it sounds very nice. So, make sure you're in the rackview then rightclick and create a subtractor.

Put the output all the way up. Select a square wave for osc 1 and put the octave on 3. Bring the filter down to 40 and make sure it's on LP12. Put the resolution up to 33 and set the keyboard tracking to 50 so the filer cutoff follows the notes. Let's dive into the filter section. Put the amount up to 80. Set the Attack to 83, we turn down the rest of the filter envelope setting. This is basically the sound were after.

You can keep it like this or beef it up a bit. I'm no veggie so let's beef it up. Right click and create a scream 4 distortion unit. Set it to tape mode and put the damage control on 46. Put param 1 on 110 and param 2 on 27. Make sure the eq and the body are turn off.

And that's it for the reverse garage sound. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. IF so you can like it or put some thumbs up. I'll be posting a lot more tutorials so if you want to keep up please subscribe or check out all my other tutorials.
Thanx for watching!

  • BPM ??

  • @munk402 Good question. Somewhere between 120 and 140. Whatever you like!

  • Thanks Jasper! Question: Why didn't you add the Scream 4 as an Insert FX? Is that because your Subtractor is set to initialized? In some of your other sound examples (e.g., gated reverb), it makes a difference whether an effect is inserted vs. a direct input to a device (e.g., in this tutorial, it appears that the subtractor is an input into the synth and not it's insert FX). Forgive my newbie innocence! Thanks again!

  • @jaywaltm1 I did it like this so I can save the patch as a combinator and can recall it at any time. When adding it as a insert you have to put it in again yourself.

  • Good stuff man! You on Twitter? I'm gonna share this video, and I could mention you.

  • @SampleFiends I'm sorry. no twitter. FAcebook yes.
