  • fucking incredible but sad barkeley didnt get a ring if barkeley had done this in 1994 he might have won a ring when jordan was retired for a little while

  • @MrBirdforthree ... who knows, but Stockton wouldn't have prevented Barkley from holding the ball, stagnating the offense, and being a defensive liability.

Barkley was incredible, but he didn't fit into team concepts smoothly.

  • @78clutchman As for Barkley, I agree that he proved more talented than Malone and Sir Charles may have constituted the most talented forward in NBA history. But value and efficacy aren't simply determined by talent. Barkley was brilliant, but also a ball-stopper and frequently a defensive liability, whereas Malone played within his team's offensive system and flow and wasn't a weak link on defense.

And as for K.J.'s assists, realize that Barkley's talent took the ball out of Johnson's hands.

  • @78clutchman And later that season, NBA head coaches in the April 8, 1991 edition of "Sports Illustrated" opted for K.J. over Stockton by a margin of 16-5 (although they acknowledged the difficulty of the decision). I possess a ton of respect for Stockton, but K.J. was right there with him as a point guard, even if people forget his remarkable mix of intelligence with athleticism.

  • @78clutchman You are entitled to your opinion on that matter, but consider that in an interview published in the "Seattle Times" on December 29, 1990, Hall of Famer Dan Issel stated that aside from the 6'9" Magic, his top point guard would be K.J. (and Hall of Famer Rick Barry basically agreed).

  • @78clutchman Fifth, Stockton averaged more assists than K.J., but in his peak years, he also averaged more assists than Magic Johnson. Averaging more assists failed to automatically render him a better "floor general" than either Johnson, especially since Stockton played in a system that maximized him and Karl Malone almost to the exclusion or detriment of some of their teammates.

  • @78clutchman Third, Chambers became a much more productive, effective, and accomplished player once he started playing with K.J. To quote a longtime basketball watcher that I know, K.J. created more "good looks" for his teammates than any point guard of his generation except for Magic Johnson and thus made many of his fellow Suns more efficient and effective. Fourth, more steals by Stockton certainly didn't render him a better overall defender than K.J.

  • @78clutchman First, as you probably know, the Suns had to trade Hornacek to acquire Barkley and then Hornacek landed with Stockton in Utah less than two years later, replacing former All-Star Jeff Malone. J. Malone and Thurl Bailey were very talented players for the Jazz, but maybe Utah failed to utilize them enough. Second, Chambers only played one year with Barkley, he came off the bench (aside from this game), and while still a weapon, he proved past his prime.

  • @joekiddlouischama stockton never played with the talent that kj play with sir, kj had four legit players with him(chambers, thunder dan and hornacek), compared to one for stockton(malone) for most of his career and stockton still was a better floor general, had more assist and steals..kj is my man, he was unstoppable but thats your opinion..a bad one but yours.....malone could never grab a board and go coast to coast..i never seen him do it like sir charles

  • @Defender80s You are taking delivries away from the mailman my friend! Even if he had Stockton, he still managed to surgically dissect his opponents on the block and was strong enough to finish around the basket his fadeaway jumpshot was on point he could pass with the likes of great passing centers like Divac
