The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine supersonic interceptor aircraft that served with the USAF from 1958 until 1967, and the first combat aircraft capable of sustained speeds above Mach 2. A highly inovative plane designed by Kelly Johnson to meet demands generated by the Korean war, it featured many design firsts.

My cousin (wayyy older than me, however cousins work) flew one of these during the Korean War. He even had a license plate that read STRFITER.

@sonicbombHD Those bastards! Annoying sometimes, aren't they? Glad you re-posted it...this is probably my favorite F-104 video, even though you can't hear the beautiful engine. =)

@TheNightBreaker I don't think that's QUITE accurate...it wasn't "difficult to maneuver due to it's short wings". It had an excellent rate-of-roll due to that, and was actually very responsive to the controls. It's small wing AREA, and corresponding high wing-loading made it's stall characteristics very tricky, which is what killed so many pilots. The long, thin fuselage made a lot of induced-drag at high angles of attack, which meant it had a huge turning radius...but that's different.

I dont know who gave you the thumbs down but what u are saying is true. It was basicly made to fly straight forward really really fast. It wasnt really a dogfighter.

This plane was very difficult for pilots to maneuver due to it's short wings.

So what happened with this video? I thought it was in my "Favorites", but I couldn't find it, and I didn't even see it in the "related videos" when I was watching some other F-104 vids. I finally typed in "F-104 Starfighter house theme song", and it was the first thing to come up. Where are all the old comments, and everything? Didn't it have more views before, too? Did you have to re-upload it or something?
