Aserbaijan Love Song

Salome Kammer performing "Aserbaijan Love Song" - from Folk Songs, no. 11, arranged by Luciano Berio for Cathy Berberian. The original popular song from Azerbaijan is "Bugun Ayin Ucudur". The lyrics for "Azerbaijan Love Song", however, are not written in any "real" language, it is just the phonetic transcription of what Cathy Berberian, who didn't speak Azeri, could make out from an old recording of the song.

I would translate the film title as: Homeland 3, Chronicle of a Turning Point in History; however, the "official" English title is: "A Chronicle Of Endings And Beginnings").

The song is from part 1, "Das glücklichste Volk der Welt" (The happiest people in the world), chronicling the "Wende" (turning point) in 1989.

Heimat 3 came out in 2004 and consists of 6 full length feature films. The series was shown only a few times in selected theaters. A cut-down version of the episodes was also shown on TV. The DVD containing the uncut versions of all six episodes is available with English subtitles.

@arakhachatran Azerbaijanci kotorie zhili v Karabaxe i po blizosti, Shushu nazivali Gala - Krepost. :) Naprimer moya babushka do six por tak i nazivaet. A "Галалы" - zovut togo kto zhivet v kreposti. Napr., Bakinec - Bakili, Shekinec - Shekili i t d... :)

@australia77777 on the video that I refered to the user siberian claims that on the disk given as a present to her by the Behbudov familiy the song is called "Shushinets" v perevode Galali. Ne ponimaiu kak Shushinets stal "Galali" Whoever, You can listen to the original version you liked so much. Cathy berberian is brilliant in singing Berio's version.

Finally the version performed by Cathy Berberian became available. I also found the soundtrack of the origianl song (not the Berio version) performed by Beybudov.
