This simple but reliable escapement is copied from a novelty cuckoo clock and cannot be relied upon to keep accurate time.

I cut the escape wheel from brass sheet and filed it shape. The pallets are also formed from thin brass strip and the completed mechanism is mounted on a depthing tool designed by W. R. Smith.

This escapement is powered by gravity, a renewable resource.
