My continuing look at the Bond film franchise. This time up Roger Moore's farewell outing as 007, 1985's A View To A Kill.

Once again this review went much longer than I anticipated. Wanting to close out the Moore Era in this segment with only one film left I got a bit overindulgent with the time. Plus, working on it at 3am hopped up on caffeine was not a good combination, but what the heck.

This James Bond Review Series will return with 'Part 6 - The Timothy Dalton Stage'

Hey, everyone has their own personal taste when it comes to Bond films. Fans have their own favorites, their own preferences and their own ideas of what a Bond film should be. Which ones succeeded and which ones failed. While one fan might rank one as their favorite, another fan could rank it as the worst. So feel free to chime in with your thoughts, but please try to keep it above a third grade level and be respectful of other Bond Fans opinions.

I thought Sir Roger did a fantastic job as Bond. He basically took the role from Flemming and made it his own. He didn't try to become James Bond but rather have Bond become him. He's the first Bond I paid any real attention too and he will IMO be my #1 Bond. He brought a type of refined class to the role with light humor that fitted him well. Sure some of his movies could have been done better like LALD and AVTAK but overall there all classics to me.

I agree. This is actually one of my favorite Bonds. I love the entertainment and Walkin as the villain, he was fabulous.

Not to mention Walken was a real badass for a villain. I mean, how many villains even in the Daniel Craig films nowadays would pull off something like this?

I don't think View to a Kill is actually that bad. It was a better note for Moore to go out on that Octopussy really and despite the criticism of Tanya Roberts there was a nice chemistry between her and Moore I thought in him playing her protector rather than simply wanting to bed her the moment he clapped eyes on her which is something not usual for a Bond film. And Walken makes the villain interesting in the same way Heath Ledger made the Joker interesting in Batman.

Walken is arguably the best thing about this movie. Grace Jones was questionable and just out there and not really a good part of the film, interesting to have a henchwoman though, pointless characters, pointless lines, terrible Bond Girl, not a bad idea or character though. Just terribly acted. It's great to see Steed finally meet Bond, but that should've been a younger agent and Moore was OLD. If perhaps Bond, May Day, Tibett, and Stacey were recasted this would be a better film.

I'm guessing by your voice that you were born in the late 80s, early 90s ? I wouldn't expect you to really connect with films of the 70s. You're not understanding the tastes of the time. Why should you ? You weren't around then. Me, I was born in 1965, and I don't really connect with films from the 50s or 40s.

You just can't take Bond too seriously, otherwise wathing the whole film doesn't make any sense. This character was never realistic. The only Bond you can take seriously is "Casino Royale", and "For your eyes only"- this one has certainly the best scenario and the human Bond which is better than Craig' because he has no weakneses but still you see a real human who simply has his limits and also sometimes is not effective, but certainly heroic.

In the car chase you can see quite clearly that it's a stunt man in the car at the wide shots
