The four-masted, wooden schooner Marie J. Thompson was the largest sailing vessel ever constructed in the Bahamas. Today, it is a shipwreck sitting in approximately fifteen feet of water at the bottom of Key West Harbor, where it serves as a real-world learning laboratory. On December 3, 2010, an alliance of students and scientists from the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum and the Florida Keys Community College visited the site to begin documenting the wreck.
