  • You're right he should.

  • The one without the face mask is a third generation spring maker, the one with is a second, maybe he knows some thing the other doesn't or has some super fast ninja skills.

  • Its an oil tank.

  • Sometimes we can find them made for less than what we can make them for.

  • Depends on the vehicle. We make them for little trailers also.

  • I'm not sure, we have a few customers that buy or scrap steel for knives.

  • How hot is that !! :) seriously , what temperatures the oven is to make the metal as malleable? ,and is there a special kind of steal for making it springy ? Thanks!

  • @jimmer818 He should still have safety glasses!

  • well how about tempering the leaf springs ....well if u wanna make some cheap automatic machines call me +91 9765000027

  • Great winter time job.

  • So, why does one guy wear a facemask and the other doesn't? Is the other guy exempt from flying sparks?

  • Hi

I'm planning to adapt a car leaf spring on a custom motorbike fork .

I have a forge long enough to fit the spring, but I'm uncertain about the heat treatment for spring steel.

If I bring the sping to cherry red, re shape it on a premade form, bring the temperature down a bit and then quench it in a bath like you do, will that be enough or as I suppose spring steel need tempering ?

    What temperature and time ?

You use Oil or wather quenching bath?

    Sorry for the many questions

    THANK YOU

  • im looking to refurbish the leaf springs on my 1977 chevy nova concours.....

    is that possible.

the reason i want to refurbish and not buy new ones is cus i've heard that the metal they use to make leaf springs now is not as good as the metal they used back in the days... true??

    Thanks

  • and you think your job gets heated :P
