Some have argued that Isaac Hayes and Barry White were playing what would be called disco music as early as 1971. According to the music guide there is disagreement as to what the first disco song was. Claims have been made for Giorgio Moroder's "Son Of My Father" (1972) Manu Dibango's "Soul Makossa" (1972), Jerry Butler's "One Night Affair" (1972), the Hues Corporation's "Rock the Boat" (1974), George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby" (1974).[6][20] and "Kung Fu Fighting" (1974) by Biddu and Carl
@TheCoddlefish Disco inferno was released 4 years after this, so a non contender I think. My sugestion for first true disco track would be George McCRae - Rock your Baby - released a month earlier than this in June 74 !
Because this came out SO EARLY, and was one of the first, or maybe THE first, song, to have that distinctive back beat, I consider this the first true disco song. But hey, I'm no expert. Weigh in with your opinions! Other's say it's the Trammp's fantastic "Disco Inferno," but they USE the word Disco in their title, so that makes me dubious.

The corporation once danced better itself than all the male and female jumping-jacks there.
