i lost a fish at the hookset using 12 lb nanofil with the nanofil double palomar knot at the lure.

it felt like about 1 lb of pressure broke this line.

  • It probably just slipped. Double palomar is good but when superline like that gets wet it slips. Even though u tightened the knot by hand and pulled it tight

  • @flanaganskool I had heard that from some folks, so i did some testing. the line broke at the knot 5 out of 5 tries.

Bass Pro Shops refunded my money for the half - spent spool.

  • I tested the 0.08 line and it really is poor at knot strength. Doesnt matter if it is double palomar or grinner knot. The best way to tie is with a knotless knot.

  • "salmon is the fish of 1000 casts". I casted this line with lures 100's of times from shore. unfortunately I have lost over a dozen lures. I thought losing my lures is my fault. I have used the nanofil knot/ any knot in hopes that would end the losing of my expensive lures, but to no avail. As of most recent I lost my lucky craft lure only after 2 days of use with a 10lb nanofil line, that I was hoping would not break off but it did! I am very disappointed with this product.

  • dont tie the damn braid straight to the lure. of course it will come out. next time connect some fluro or mono leader to the braid and you wont have that problem

  • @fuzzmeister13 better 10 times

  • grinner knot for me everytime .use it for hooks, attaching lures, two grinner knots attaching braid to leader.grinner normally goes round four times then four through loop.if your worried go 5 or 6 times round.

  • That sucks. I have always used power pro, which has worked great and I have never had it break or fray up. I used Fireline which is supposedly pretty similar to NanoFil, and it feels no where near as good as Power Pro. Sufix 832 works well too.

  • I had to learn several knots that were new to me. Because the waters I fish are fairly clear, I join Nanofil and flourocarbon as a leader using a double albright knot. I have used Nanofil for a short time too and have NEVER had it fail on me even after I tied some questionable (ugly) knots on my first few attempts.

  • I've been using nanofil for a little while now. it's good and you do cast further, but I've had knot slipping issues even tying a double palomar knot. I wind up tying a triple palomar knot which does the trick though.

While I do like nanofil, you're not really missing out if you pass on it.

  • Hi my friend, please have a look at the many publiched items about NanoFil, it rocks! If you take the time learning the knots you will experiance the great benefits of it.

  • Well now I will think twice before dropping the 20 bucks for a spool of crap. Lol thanks for the info
