My husband who was a rowing enthusiast and coxed at Henley Regatta as a young man had the song played at his funeral recently. What a beautiful song! Goodbye KAT & R.I.P, xxx

I recorded this with Josh and Tony Hatch in about 1964 at Olympic Studios in Carton Street W1 where I was the Engineer, I am also he 'Water Sounds that change key in the third verse!
There is a unsullied version ( albeit a little hum) on Utube under josh mccrae

My Dad is having this played at his funeral too. He died yesterday. RIP Dad x

@RobynW95 this was also played at my grandads funeral. this song means a great deal to me. when i was young my grandad owned a canal boat tour business and he would be singing this all the time. he may b gone but ill always keep his spirit alive with this song. goodbye grandad R.I.P

josh macrae is awesome, he was a frend of my granda's and used to come over and play guitar while my granda played banjo lol, you should have muted the original vid though, that outboard is bloody annoying
