@MiSebastianT I asked one of my teachers about Portalea's way of dancing/musical intepretation. He told me that all the old milongueros danced in their own way. Nobody taught them that something is correct, or not correct, they didn't pay attention if something is in accord wiith "Urquiza style" or whatever. They just danced the way they felt for a very long time. Portalea's musicality was his own undeniable off-beat-cadencia feeling that you can't judge by others' measures.

that is history, thanks for sharing!!!

Perhaps Sebastian made the music for Mickey Mouse-pictures.
At least the cymbals.
-
he's ADDING to the melody, singing a love song to his partner with his body.He has a musicians soul, and as with all true tango, he dances for her,and not for the audience.

So far out you have to dig deep. Portalea is a mythic milonguero. He had a crush for rhytm but in the way of jazz. Off beat can be a way of life.

Climaco: sos un ídolo. Le pusiste la tapa a ese chanta!
-
Obvious, you are not a musician.
-
Actually, that's what I do for a living. What about you?

your comment shows that you don't get what tango's about. You look but you don't see.

Watching this is an emotional experience. It gives you the feeling that you could dance like that...a worthy goal, indeed.
